Ieri sera, presso il Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel a Los Angeles e in contemporanea al Savoy Hotel di Londra, si è svolta la 27a cerimonia di premiazione dei Critics Choice Awards 2022. L’evento è stato presentato da Taye Diggs e Nicole Byer e trasmesso in diretta su CW e TBS.
Tra i due litiganti, il terzo gode
Le nomination davano per favoriti Belfast e West Side Story, ma a spuntarla è stato The Power of the Dog. Il film distribuito da Netflix, diretto da Jane Campion e con protagonisti Benedict Cumberbatch e Kirsten Dunst ha conquistato ben quattro statuette, tra le quali miglior film e miglior regia. Subito dopo Belfast e Dune con tre premi e West Side Story con due.
Will Smith e Jessica Chastain conquistano invece i premi come miglior attore e miglior attrice per le loro performance in King Richard e The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Smith è salito sul palco e ha dedicato la vittoria a Venus e Serena Williams.
“Grazie per avermi affidato la vostra storia”, ha dichiarato l’attore. “Quello che la vostra famiglia è stata in grado di fare ha ispirato tutti in questa stanza, tutti in questo paese e tutti nel mondo. Siete tutti voi a definire il sogno americano”.
I Mitchells contro le macchine, prodotto dalla Sony, si porta a casa il premio come miglior film d’animazione, lasciando a mani vuote la Disney, che gareggiava con 3 film su 5 (Encanto, Luca e Raya e l’ultimo drago). Il secondo round avrà luogo alla notte degli Oscar. Riuscirà la Disney a rifarsi?
Critics Choice Awards 2022: Ted Lasso di nuovo in testa
Sul fronte TV trionfa ai Critics Choice Awards 2022 nuovamente Ted Lasso. La commedia Apple TV+ ha spazzato via la concorrenza per il secondo anno consecutivo, conquistando quattro premi: miglior serie commedia, miglior attore in una commedia per Jason Sudeikis, miglior attore e attrice non protagonisti per Brett Goldstein e Hannah Waddingham.
L’attrice ha approfittato della sua presenza sul palco per ricordare la crisi in Ucraina. “Sarebbe negligente da parte nostra non concentrare l’attenzione sulla cosa più importante che sta accadendo nel mondo in questo momento” ha detto emozionandosi. “Sui nostri bellissimi fratelli e sorelle, e per me, cosa più importante, i bambini in Ucraina che sono stati completamente decimati in questo momento da questo putrido torrente di abusi”.
