The San Diego Comic-Con has become during the years an unmissable appointment for all the comics, movies and tv series fans.
It is a convention where thousands of poeple attend from all over the world. Four days of entertainment with stalls of comics, books and collections items, shows with guests and previews of movies and tv series.
Since 1970 fans wait with trapidation the Comic-Con to show their cosplays and have fun with who shares their same nerd passion.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemy, the 2020 edition of San Diego Comic-Con was cancelled. Bad news comes even for the 2021 edition of the event .
CANCELLATIONS AND POSTPONEMENTS FOR THE 2021 SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON
With a press release on the official web site and social media of San Diego Comic-Con, the Comic-Con International, the association who organizes the event, communicates that for the 2021 edition will be some changes.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemy that unfortunately continues in 2021, the association comunicates that the spring 2021 WonderCon in Anaheim will be cancelled. In its place, in march 26 and 27, 2021 the free online event of WonderCon@Home will be held.
To garantee the safety of the event where thousands of people attend, the association took the decision to postpone the in-person event of Comic-Con 2021 until 2022. As well as for the WonderCon, in place of the San Diego Comic-Con, there will be the free online event of Comic-Con@Home.
The challenges of this past year and the multiple postponements have left the association with limited financial resources. For this reason, the duration of the Comic-Con will be reduce to three days, July 23-24-25, 2021.
However, to garantee its commitment to the community created during all these years, the Comic-Con International has decided to launch a smaller in-person event as a safe alternative. A shorter version of the San Diego Comic-Con is planned in November. All the infomation about badges, costs and attendance capacity will be avaiable on the website and social media.
Morevorer, the association communicates that who has already bought the ticket for the event, its validy is exstended until 2022 and it is possible to ask for a refund.
In conclusion, even for this year things will be different, we all hope to come back to normality soon.
